“Carl’s picture is fantastic; I wish I had one of my last dog, Mittens, that would be a great memory.”
How do I book a session?
Click on the contact page and fill out the quick form – I will get back to you within 24 hours and we can start planning your portrait experience.
Can I really have the photo files as well as the print?
Yes. Unlike most portrait businesses, where you have to pay for every print and don’t get the files, we are happy for you to have and use them. They will be especially great for emailing images to your friends, putting on your home screen or maybe you might want to make a t-shirt.
Note: we shoot in RAW format in order to get the highest quality. We will typically send you JPEG files instead of RAW since those are easy to work with (and take a lot less room on your hard drive). Should you want the RAW files we are glad to send them, just ask.
Are there different sizes available?
Our base package includes a dramatic three-foot by two-foot print. If a different size better fits your décor, or sometimes a different crop proportion works better for the image you love, let’s do it. The difference is cost is relatively small, more or less, depending on size.
Can we get canvas prints?
We are happy to work with you. If you prefer canvas, that’s available. We are open to all kinds of ideas.
What if I fall in love with more than one image?
If you want more than one art print then let’s do it. The cost will be less since the photography is already done.

Why do you include a print in the package rather than just providing the files to print on our own?
First, there is a lot that goes into setting up the image files for museum quality printing (like white balance, exposure, noise reduction, sharpening). We set up the files to match and optimize the printing process we use. Second, our printing process optimizes both the look and durability of the artwork. But if you want something different, just ask.
Can I be in the photo with my pet?
Yes. Please let us know in advance and consider wearing solid colors.
What if I have some ideas about the type of portrait I want?
We always love to have client input. Our goal is to make art that will bring a smile.
How should we prepare for the session?
If your pet has a lot of energy, it’s good to take them for a walk or run beforehand.
What is your retouching philosophy?
Our philosophy is to provide a realistic portrait of your pet. Since we are dealing with pets there maybe stray hair, slobber, or dirt on the backdrop. We retouch those things so the pet looks their best. These are artistically large prints so those things would be obvious compared to what you might see in snapshots. If you want to have something special retouched, let us know.
What if my pet isn’t well trained?
As long as they don’t bite we can handle just about any pet. Often it’s challenging, but that is part of the fun.
What if my dog cannot be off leash?
We can work with that and our world class retoucher can remove the leash.
Should we groom our dog for the session?
Depends on your breed (for example a Doodle might need a trim so their eye’s show). Just make sure to do it in advance in case the groomer gets carried away.
Where is the photo session?
We photograph in a pet friendly studio in Edmonds, Washington.
Any recommendations on portrait care?
If possible, hang in a location outside of direct sunlight. We print using a high-quality fine art printing process and archival paper that can theoretically last up to 100 years even in direct sunlight.
